The Sri Lanka Society of Gastroenterology successfully marked Global Fatty Liver Day 2026 on 13th June at Cinnamon Life, Colombo, bringing together healthcare professionals, policymakers, industry partners and advocates to raise awareness of metabolic dysfunction–associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), a growing public health challenge in Sri Lanka and worldwide.
The event commenced with the participation of distinguished guests, including representatives from the Ministry of Health. Scientific sessions featured insightful presentations by leading Gastroenterologists on the evolving epidemiology of MASLD and the critical role of lifestyle medicine in its prevention and management. An engaging discussion session provided an opportunity for participants to exchange ideas and explore practical strategies to address the increasing burden of fatty liver disease.
The Sri Lanka Society of Gastroenterology remains committed to advancing education, awareness, research and advocacy in liver health, while fostering collaborative efforts to prevent and manage MASLD across the country.
